PIANO LESSONS:
Shannon teaches out of her home in North Vancouver, British Columbia and at students' homes on the North Shore.
"I truly enjoy teaching piano lessons to all levels and ages of students. From beginners to more advanced players, I believe in catering specifically to each student so that they will get the most enjoyable experience possible and reach their own personal goals. While ensuring that the students are constantly learning and progressing, I give them the option of requesting songs that they'd like to learn and find ways to incorporate them in the lessons. I often arrange music for my students to play so that I can ensure that the pieces they would like to learn are at the right level of difficulty. I believe in teaching through a broad range of musical styles so the students have an opportunity to experience playing in these different styles and can decide which ones are best suited to them. This was my own teacher's philosophy while I was growing up and I really appreciate how much it kept me excited about music. I teach classical, jazz, ragtime, pop, or anything else a student would like to try. I also teach theory and composition and like to encourage students, once they've reached a certain level, to write and arrange their own music. I'm happy when a student is learning, progressing and having fun!" (Shannon Thue, 2007)
